Has God called you to unite with First Baptist Church?

Membership in a local church is one of life’s most important decisions. As disciples of Jesus, we are unified by our identity in Christ. Being church members makes our commitment to Christ and his people visible through the local church. Church membership provides the biblical context for Christians to commit to one another and help each other follow Jesus.

QUESTIONS

How do you know if the life of the church lines up with its teaching and beliefs? The best way to find out is to ask. There are no questions that are off the table. Please take time to talk with members of the congregation after a Sunday service, and ask anything about the life and teaching of the church.

If you would like to talk to the pastor or staff member, email us here

DISCUSSION

We understand that it is important for you to know the pastor and ministerial staff of the church you’re joining, and for them to know you. Every person who wishes to join FBC will schedule a time to meet with the pastor. This discussion is an opportunity for the pastor to spend time with each potential member. The conversational setting gives an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the church and share your personal faith story.

MEMBERSHIP

There are three ways to unite with First Baptist Church.*

Profession of Faith and Baptism:  You may present yourself for church membership upon public profession of your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Baptism by immersion follows the profession of faith at a later worship service.

By Letter: You may present yourself for church membership from another Southern Baptist Church. A “letter” of membership is then transferred to First Baptist Church.

Statement: You may present yourself for membership from another denomination, provided that you have already experienced salvation and have been baptized as a believer by immersion. If you have not been baptized by immersion, you will be received upon your baptism.

*All membership must be confirmed by vote of the church.

BAPTISM

Baptism by immersion in water is a symbolic act signifying that the believer has united with Jesus Christ in faith and the initiatory act signifying the believer belongs as a member of Christ’s church.

If you are ready to be baptized, please contact the church office (256-845-2015) or email communications@fbcfp to speak to a member of our ministerial staff.
